If you’re not fluent in French (not that I am, but I’m getting there, haha) this sweater might just be a cute sweater with a nice 3D print on it. Well, in Paris, it’s not. It says “bad boy”. I myself wouldn’t raise an eyebrow reading that on a sweater, but apparently there’s much more to it than just bad boy… Apparently it’s a very naughty boy and the actual meaning (with sexual associations) comes with cultural interpretations I had no idea of, so when I was wandering the streets of PFW wearing this people were actually staring, not always with a smile on their face, haha.
But screw that. At least people saw me and I love my sweater. And hey, I DID put a parental advisory warning on my cap too…
On a more serious note though, I’m as far from being a bad boy as you get. I’ve never been in a fight in my life and seriously would have no idea what to do if I actually happened to be in one. I’d probably just linger myself out of it by talking which is how I deal with every hardship that crosses my path. I’m always trying to be diplomatic. Diplomacy does NOT mean giving up on your own beliefs or values however. I always stick to my point of view. Nowadays that is. I used to be a real people pleaser to the degree that I forgot who I was and basically just did what everyone else thought I should do and what was best in other peoples opinion. In my endless need to be nice to everyone I forgot to be nice to myself. That’s a thing of the past though. Nowadays, however pleasant I am to people, I NEVER give up on my values or beliefs. As I’ve said before: I’m always true to myself.
The lesson learned today is hence: Stay true to yourself people! No matter if you’re wearing something other might not approve of or if your values aren’t to everyone’s liking.
