Hotel With Urban Deli

Travel

[:en]For Fashion Week Stockholm I had the pleasure of staying at Hotel With Urban Deli. A very memorable experience for many reasons and with the ultimate distance to the fashion venues (2 minutes walk) and everything else you need to see and experience in Stockholm. First of all, Hotel With (as I’ll refer to it from now on) is not your ordinary hotel. Actually it’s part of a concept that took Stockholm by storm when Urban Deli launched it’s unique mix of a restaurant, bakery, food store, bar, food hall and lounge back in 2009 and quickly became THE place to hang out at. Their success was so eminent that they went on to launch their concept throughout the city and now can be found at three hotspots in Stockholm. The latest addition to the Urban Deli franchise is a hotel situated under one of their concept hangouts. Yes, you heard me right. Under. The whole hotel is underground. Unlike other hotels who make pride of having sea views or what not, Hotel With takes pride in the fact that their rooms are underground. At first the idea seemed kind of claustrophobic even to me who’s used to top floor suites with views in all directions, but here’s why that’s not the case.

The rooms at Hotel With are equipped with all the amenities you’d need for a shorter or even longer stay and despite the rooms being on the smaller scale (fright not, Americans, even you will survive) my room was one of the most comfortable experiences I’ve had in a hotel so far. As the rooms are soundproof you could play music as loud as you’d ever want streaming your Spotify list straight from your phone or computer on their 48″ TV with built in subwoofers with a quality that even made my home stereo system sound skimpy in comparison. If you happen to be lucky enough to have a partner (or having “met someone over a few drinks”) you could also uh, enjoy the pleasure of each others intimate company without having the slightest fear of being overheard. That goes both ways. I wasn’t bothered by anyone or anything in my room during my stay either as all I could hear was my soothing music from my Spotify playlist and smell from my scented candles.

I love the fact that the hotel even advertises itself with the following: To guarantee a perfect night sleep we have equipped the rooms with comfortable beds, nice bed linen and soundproof doors. On top of that there’s no disturbing sunlight! If you are interested in tech specs; all rooms have extra large TVs, good sound system as well as probably the fastest wifi in Sweden! I seriously didn’t miss the “disturbing” sunlight at all when I was there and the wifi was fast as heck. After days filled of hectic running between fashion shows, events and parties, the comfy bed was perfect to crash in.

The bathrooms are small, compact, but designed with perfection and just as the rooms, every detail is thought through. This time I didn’t take my entire beauty routine with me. I just hade some organic body shower from c/o Gerd, an addictive mineral dry paste from Björn Axén and a foundation from Smashbox to make me ready for both the fashion shows as well as a photo shoot I squeezed in during my hectic days (pictures from that will come later on).

As always (well, almost) I once again wanted my hotel room to feel like home and thus brought a few magazines (Wallpaper has seriously been a fave of mine for approx 20 years now) as well as these candles from Kårby Organics which I recently discovered. Not only do they fill the room with a lovely scent (as you maybe noticed, I had one in the bathroom too), but they’re also completely organic and you guys know by now how much I care about my products being just that. The fact that they’re Swedish doesn’t hurt either.

After a night well slept there’s a huge and healthy (and organic) breakfast buffet available for you and the restaurant and bar serves everything from lovely brunches to tasty dinners and the concept of Urban Deli is that you can come here to chill out with friends, work while listening to your favorite music or just drop by the organic food store and food hall and make both yourself and the environment a favor.

Like I mentioned, the food store and food hall are fully equipped with all your organic favorites and no, organic doesn’t mean tasteless, or horribly expensive. When you do it on a large scale like Urban Deli does, it’s just like going to the supermarket, but with a good conscience. And I do admit I had to buy my guilty semi healthy snacks every night before bed. Before heading to my room I did spend time in the cozy lounge area to catch up with all my social media and what better way to do that than surrounded by people as the buzz of urban city dwellers make the perfect backdrop for your experience.

So whether or not you’re looking for a staycation and staying in the hotel for a whole weekend (as you seriously don’t need to leave the premises for anything) or a vacation close to everything in Stockholm, I’d say give Hotel With Urban Deli a go. In the summertime they also have a rooftop terrace with a view over entire Stockholm and I can’t wait to experience that. I’m so privileged to get to try out hotels in my own city, but then again, that makes me the perfect tour guide and my offer still stands: If you ever visit Stockholm, get in touch and I’ll give you the tour of a lifetime!

For all my loyal readers Hotel With Urban Deli is offering a 20% discount on all stays until March 31st as well as from June 22nd to August 14th.

Under.

Sometimes a small space is all we need, so that wouldn’t necessarily be a bad thing to me. All I normally look for is safety, comfort and privacy and it looks like this Hotel With provides all of these qualities and more. Sounds and looks like a great boarding experience!

This is probably my favorite hotel that you’ve stayed in. I love the fact that the walls are sound proof! The decor and overall design aesthetic has a bit of urban modernity, but still super minimalistic. The food looks amazing as well!

What an interesting hotel! Love the concept behind it and the little quirky, industrial touches to the design. I’m usually partial to staying at boutique hotels because of all the attention-to-detail they put into their rooms. I love the little things. This hotel looks right up my alley! Thanks for sharing!

Wow, the idea of being completely underground is so clever, but also a little challenging. I am such a person hugely inspired by day light, clouds and nature that the idea of being away from all of it might freak me out. Though, I do think this is a very clever use of space and a good idea. Haha, I guess I’d just have to try it out. Love the look of these healthy breakfast bowls though!! Yum!

This deff looks like once in a life time experience and i am for sure want to experience this . Hotel underground is something very unique. What i like the most is that, you don’t have to go anywhere, because our busy schedules are definitely something that will benefit from that. Also for the hotel, sound proof doors are a must. That breakfast looks so good buddy.

I love the idea of it being underground and that seems to make it even more cozy. Love how you were 2 minutes away from the festivities and also love seeing you enjoying your Spotify playlist and scented candle. Really need to know how you like the Smashbox makeup because I need a recommendation, darling! Thank you, once again for sharing your lovely experiences here and on your instastories!

I was waiting for this blog post about Hotel With Urban Deli after I saw your Insta Stories about your stay here during Stockholm’s Fashion Week. It’s a brilliant concept for being an underground. No matter if you are a business traveler or on vacation, a good night sleep after a long day is a must (I especially love to learn about the soundproof rooms there :)). Another attraction about this beautiful hotel is the breakfast buffet as I always do big breakfasts at every hotel I stay while I am on vacation – simply best feeling while sipping coffee and sample all sorts of food :). Thank you so much for showing us more of Stockholm. It certainly becomes one of my favorite cities because of you. I can’t wait for this summer to come :).

Oh wow this is the first time I’ve heard of an underground hotel! Normally I’d be iffy about that because it sounds cold and I’m always about finding rooms with the biggest window for natural lighting but honestly this place is making it work! Their theme of dim cozy lighting actually makes this place have it’s own unique look and style. Quite honestly I love smaller rooms, it makes me feel more comfortable without having a huge gaping space that I wouldn’t even use. Truly sounds like a place that needs to be checked out and experienced at least once in your life!

Your underground hotel experince sounds amazing, It seems like a place where people can isolate themselves from the world! The yellow room door caught my eye! I also love the minimal look of the hotel bathrooms!!!! From your picture I can tell how lovely the food hall place is, I love the idea of having everything organic! I would definitely check this place out when I go to visit Stockholm one day!

That hotel sounds amazing!! I love the bathroom’s aesthetic!! And the fact that there is no ‘disturbing sunlight’ haha! I guess if you partied all night, that would be disturbing, but that’s not my jam, or yours, as it seems from all I’ve read of your lifestyle and goals! 🙂 Also, I am OBSESSED with candles!! I need to check this one out!!

I loved reading your review on this amazing Hotel. It sounds like such a unique experience and I love that it is underground. After staying in big chain hotels most of my life, I feel so bored by them. They look and feel exactly the same, there is nothing new. But this is a different concept, I really love the decor and the sound proof walls. It really looks so homely with your candles lit. I would love to stay at this Hotel whenever I do visit Sweden. And I am totally taking you up on the offer for a tour.

I love how cosy that hotel looks and that retro bathroom is just so awesome! I recently shot in one similar in Sydney and loved it. Location is so important when you’re travelling and how good that it was 2 minutes from the shows!!

I’d love to check this place out <3

Another fantastic hotel review Thomas, I adore the interior of this one especially that bathroom with all that exposed piping and white tiles. That breakfast buffet looks incredible and so healthy. I’ve never seen a hotel put one on like that!

Whoa I love how the hotel is underground! I do love the natural sunlight, but it’s really cool to have soundproof doors. OMG and that organic breakfast buffet?!?! Where can I find that in the states? I must really check out this hotel!! Thank you SO much for sharing!

A hotel underground? I actually think it’s kind cozy. I have a basement here at my house, and I actually really enjoy hanging out in the basement. I love that the room is soundproof so you can rest without being disturbed or play music without disturbing anyone. I also adore the industrial vibes of the decor in the bathroom. It’s really cute!

Love reading hotel reviews that are through, relevant and well thought out! I too am accustomed to the high elevation suites and probably would freak out when I find out the hotel is underground, but the fact that every bit of detail that goes into designing this boutique space is so intimate and intricate would probably make me think otherwise. Great read and bookmarked for future trip planning!

I always get such hotel envy when I read your posts 😉 Hahaa! How amazing that Hotel Urban Deli is underground- that is so cool! And sunlight is most certainly not needed when you’re exhausted. The decor is so on-point too, and with your additions- it really looks like home. And don’t even get me started on this delicious food…

This hotel is divine! I love the layout and the bed. The breakfast looks incredible and sounds like it is in such a fantastic location. That bathroonm is goals. I have always wanted a statement door. It’s the one thing I keep bringing up to my husband for when we finally settle down in one city and get a place. 🙂 Gorgeous hotel. Thanks for sharing!
