I spend a lot of time talking about how fashion should be ethical and giving back to society in every way it can. It’s also up to us as consumers to actually make this happen and support these brands. This post is going to be about TOMS who’s fashion I will not showcase in this post in more than the pins I’m wearing, but there’s more to come for sure and you’ll understand why after you’ve read the post. I also want to start off by saying that this post in now way is sponsored by TOMS, but that it’s my choice to bring awareness to an amazing brand.

 I think it is important to talk about this and share a brand with you that stands for everything I do. The pins I’m wearing in the picture above all have different meanings to them and I’ll actually go through them one by one. They’re not just pins, they actually make us aware of what TOMS is doing concretely to help and by wearing them I take a stand too.  

The Giving Shoes are brand new and made for school and play. TOMS provide multiple styles and offer a range of sizes to fit kids from toddlers to teens and so far 70 million pairs of shoes have been given. Think about that next time you’re buying shoes.

Your TOMS Eyewear purchase helps restore sight to an individual through sight-saving surgery, prescription glasses or medical treatment. 445 000 treatments have been provided to individuals in need so far.

Infection is a leading cause of death among mothers and newborns worldwide. TOMS Bags purchases provide training for skilled birth attendants and the vital materials needed to help a woman safely give birth. TOMS has helped 70 000 mothers to this date.

More than 780 million people don’t have access to safe water. TOMS Roasting Co. purchases support water systems in seven countries – in the same regions where they source their coffee beans. So far 400 000 weeks of safe water have been provided and as I’m not good at math, that sounds impressive, but you do the math.

In the United States, nearly 1 out of every 3 students reports being a victim of bullying. The numbers are similar in the rest of the world. Purchases of the TOMS High Road Backpack Collection will help provide the training of school staff and crisis counselors to help prevent and respond to instances of bullying. 44 000 students have been given the gift of kindness so far.

These are the reasons why I wear my pins with pride and I urge you to go to their website to check them out. This is hands down how we consumers can take a stand, so let’s do it. Numbers are impressive, but we can increase these numbers. Together.

Jag pratar en hel del om hur mode borde vara mer etiskt ansvarstagande och ge tillbaka till samhället. Det är dock upp till oss konsumenter att rösta med fötterna och faktiskt köpa och stötta märken som gör just detta. Detta inläg kommer att handla om TOMS vars mode jag inte kommer att visa mer av (just nu) än de pinsen jag bär, men mer kommer garanterat och ni förstår varför efter att ni läst vad detta varumärke bidrar med. Vill redan här säga att inlägget inte på något vis är sponsrat av TOMS utan att jag vill lyfta fram denna viktiga aktör på marknaden.

Jag tycker att det är viktigt att tala om detta och dela med mig av ett märke som jag delar värderingar med. Pinsen jag bär på bilden ovan har alla en särskild betydelse och jag ska gå igenom dem en efter en så att ni kan få en inblick i varför jag vill lyfta ämnet och varumärket. De är inte bara pins, de är ett sätt att ta mitt ansvar genom att bära dem.   

Nästa gång du köper skor kan du tänka på att du genom att handla från TOMS hjälper barn och tonåringar i mindre bemedlade länder att få sprillans nya skor. De kommer i många stilar och passar såväl nyfödda som tonåringar och hittills har 70 miljoner skor delats ut.

Om du köper glasögon från TOMS hjälper du till med att ge synen tillbaka till en individ genom en synräddande operation, glasögon eller medicinsk behandling. Behandlingar och hjälp av olika slag har hittills getts till 445 000 individer.

Infektioner är en av de största orsakerna till dödsfall vid födslar, både för mödrar och spädbarn. Genom att köpa en väska från TOMS bidrar du till att utbilda kunniga förlossningsassistenter och de mest nödvändiga material som behövs för att en kvinna kan föda barn under säkra former. 70 000 mödrar har fått denna hjälp hittills.

Fler än 780 miljoner människor saknar tillgång till säkert vatten. Med säkert menas drickbart. TOMS Roasting Co köper stödvattensystem i sju länder, samma länder där deras kaffebönor härstammar ifrån. 400 000 veckor av säkert vatten har det resulterat i hittills och även om jag inte är bra på matte så talar siffrorna för sig själv och ni kan ju räkna ut själva vad det betyder.

I USA rapporteras det om att nästan var tredje elev är utsatt för mobbning. Siffrorna är liknande i resten av världen. Genom att köpa en ryggsäck från TOMS High Road Backpack Collection bidrar man till att utbilda skolpersonal och krispersonal för att hindra och aktivt arbeta med fall av mobbning. 44 000 elever har fått hjälp genom detta till dags dato.

Det här är skälen till att jag bär mina pins med stolthet och jag hoppas ni kollar deras hemsida och i övrigt funderar mer på vad och hur ni konsumerar mode, men även på att hjälpa medmänniskor i nöd överlag. Det är så här vi som konsumenter vi kan ta vårt ansvar så låt oss öka på de redan imponerande siffrorna genom att göra just det.

    Those pins are awesome. I’m already a huge fan of pins ( I think they look awesome) but the fact that these have amazing meaning behind them is even better. I think my favorite is the “give kindness” pin. I was a victim of bullying growing up so it hits close to home.

    Ahhhhhh I love Toms! I have more Toms shoes than any other brand. I’m ashamed to admit I didn’t know they did all this! I knew the coffee and eyewear causes, but this makes me want to go buy a bag right away. My favorite posts to read and write are ones about a brand you truly love!

    I feel like I spend so much time talking about Toms. I actually don’t even own any of their shoes, though I have helped my friend to accumulate a few pairs by way of encouraging and recommending them! Recently we were shooting for a local shopping centre and I saw the Toms eyewear display in the optometrists. It came up in conversation so many more times that week, as we had no idea that they also not only made glasses, but that they had a huge division dedicated to the sight program. I think they are just an incredible company and business model and could not agree more with you and your enthusiasm for them. I look forward to the days that more companies follow suit.

It’s amazing that Toms gives back so much especially in this world we live in where the bottom line always seems to be the number one priority.     I love TOMS, a girl friend of mine use to be the China head for TOMS. She use to travel to lots of poor countries and to make sure all the shoes are properly delivered to all the poor kids and the needy ones. I love their business model. What I didn’t know is that TOMS has eye wears, bags, and roasting co. I’m totally with you. We need to take a stand and be more giving to the society! If we can’t do it directly ourselves, then we should participate through channels like TOMS 🙂

    I did know about the shoes that TOMS donates but you have opened my eyes to all the other things they donate and are involved in.     I’ve always loved TOMS shoes, I had no clue they made pins, eyewear, bags and even coffee, I’m impressed!     Ok so I’ve always loved TOMS but I never knew they actually help out and give back to the community too. This is incredible. I think I’ll have to buy a bag or two from them next. The reason is because I’m pregnant right now and I’ve been so sensitive to anything related to women and the health of mothers and children, especially when giving birth.     I’m a big fan of TOMS, I have 2 pairs of their shoes. I’m always impressed with the design of their shoes and the way they give back meaningfully. I love supporting brands like them. Good shoes for a good cause, I love it! Those pins are so cool, I love that each one of those represent something different and a different meaning behind them. Thanx for sharing about this brand Thomas, I definitely know a lot more about them than before!

    I absolutely love the TOMS brand! I wear a pair almost every day and plan on buying many more. Not only is the mission amazing, but the shoes are perfect to slip on and go run some errands.

    I remember when I was in first year Uni it was when I first heard about TOMS!!! I ordered my first pair online with my bestie and we absolutely loved their shoes as they were super comfortable to put on, and the idea of giving back to the community is what we admired the most, especially when we have just learnt about how important Corporate Social Responsibility is in our lectures!!! I ended up buying 4-5 pairs after that due to how easy they are to match my outfits!!!!

    I need to check out their website again, I’ve noticed that they’ve started making sunglasses and clothing items now!! I did not know TOMS Eyewear purchase helps restore sight to an individual through sight-saving surgery, prescription glasses or medical treatment until your post. This makes me want to invest a pair now just for helping someone out 🙂 Thank you so much for sharing! I love connecting people with kind hearts ! <3

    Wow TOMS is doing a lot more than I remember. They used to just give a pair of shoes when someone would buy a pair. (PS I’m sitting here in my TOMS slippers right now). I love to see that they are doing even more for there company. I think I should look into ordering more TOMS, because seeing everything that they are doing is making me so happy. What a great company. Makes me want to do something good for others.

    I Adore Toms, love their shoes and certainly love the story of their success. I didn’t know all the different cause and organizations they are charitable to. They seem to really care about the society and this planet. The pins are so cute and innocuous yet stylish when you put them on.

    What a great brand to spread awareness about! I’ve always been a big fan of Toms! I think the first pair I bought was in 2010 or 11! I loved the mission behind them. I just recently found out that they also were involved in helping to train for safe births and it was from another influencers post! However, until reading this post I had NO idea the other ways that this brand was impacting the world! Like you, I’m all for supporting ethical brands and those that truly make a difference in the world and I must say that Toms really shines bright and is setting the standard! This post has made me even more of a fan! You look is incredible by the way! Love the Hunter bag you paired with it too! P.S Hats off to you for posting this and it wasn’t required!     This actually sounds amazing Thomas and i love how each pin has its own meaning and all are addressing serious problems in this world. Give kindness is one that resonates with me a lot right now as the bullying doesn’t really ever stop after high school and after watching 13 Reasons Why I think that would be one cause I’d definitely support.     Absolutely love TOMS I have been wearing them since ages and they are the perfect shoe to travel. Love the fact about all this initiative they are supporting.     I love Toms so much. They do so many great things! My friend actually works for them and had gone on several trips to third world countries and it’s been such an amazing experience. I really only thought that it applied to their shoe brand. I love companies that give back and it’s always great to spread the word on them!!     Dear Tommy. I cannot begin to thank you for this post. As soon as I started getting into this I knew what you were gonna write about. Thank you for supporting Tom’s and the causes they support. When I got to the sight one I got emotional. We talk about this a lot at the hospital and Tom’s has done an amazing job bringing awareness to this so people like me can get the treatment and surgeries they need.
