I’ve been working with fashion in one way or another for almost 15 years and when you put it in perspective that makes me feel old, so let’s just swipe that fact away somehow and move on. As some of you already know, I work as Fashion Editor for London based Candid Magazine and on top of that I of course style all my own photo shoots for the blog, but now I want to take it one step further by educating myself to become a certified stylist at RR Style Academy in Stockholm. They provide a completely new stylist education for people who want to work as stylists or personal shoppers, but also to those who already work in the business and want to gain a deeper knowledge and that is the section I’m in.
The education is held by a team of handpicked stylists with huge amounts of experience and they work in all kinds of media as well as for different fashion companies. I’m truly excited to get more in depth knowledge about what being a stylist actually is. I mean, I know how to style myself, but I don’t know much about for example other people’s body types.
During the course you get a thorough review of the subjects you need to master to work in the business. It’s both practical and theoretical and contain subjects such as style personalities, body types, materials, personal shopping, styling and fashion history. They also have external lecturers from the fashion world to get us through topics such as sustainability which is ever so important today. The education ends with both a practical and theoretical exam which need to be approved to get your diploma. I’m more than excited about this opportunity and I hope you’ll follow my journey here on the blog.

August 14, 2017 at 5:15 pmThat’s so exciting and I agree. I know how to style myself but unsure about others. Best of luck!

August 14, 2017 at 5:18 pmI am the same, I know how to style myself, but have no idea how to style other people. I think this course will be very useful for you, of course you already have a great sense of style, but it is also nice to mix it with some theoretical knowledges. It is also exiting that you can learn from real stylists!

August 14, 2017 at 11:16 pmThis sounds awesome! I wish we had something like this in the US because I’d love to be a “certified stylist” rather than just giving my fashion advice to my friends 🙂 Good luck on your journey!

August 15, 2017 at 2:34 amThis is the perfect next step for you, friend! And I’m so excited to see what you’ll learn! You always style yourself like a boss, but once you’re able to come tell me and B what to wear, that will be the coolest 😉 Can’t wait to hear more about your fashion adventures in this new endeavor! You’re gonna rock it!

August 15, 2017 at 3:12 amI actually didn’t know that you work as Fashion Editor for Candid Magazine. I’ve been involved for 12 years now….but that started as a teenage but still I feel you! I went more of the buying route at first and didn’t like that I couldn’t be my own boss in the end. I honestly had no idea that you could be certified as a stylist and that probably would have been a better route for me to take. How amazing that you can be educated by people already in the industry. It’s one thing to get good at styling yourself but another completely to style others! On to your look, PERFECT! Anything with those mouse ears and I’m in! Love that it’s stripped and the shorts you paired with it!

August 15, 2017 at 3:36 amI thought all you did was blog full time. I had no idea you were also a Fashion Editor for a magazine. That explains why you’re so knowledgeable about things in the industry and why your looks are always on point. I definitely support you becoming a certified stylist and think you should always maximize your potential and reach for the stars. I can’t wait to follow your adventure!

August 15, 2017 at 4:07 amI totally know what you mean when you say it’s easy to style yourself but it’s harder to style someone else.. kind of like how I can do my own makeup but when it comes to someone else’s I don’t even know where to begin haha. I hope you learn lots of neat things at the Academy! Sounds exciting 🙂

August 15, 2017 at 1:45 pmOoooooh I love that there’s a school for that! When I first got out of college, I wanted to take styling jobs but here, it’s really hard to get experience for that and I don’t think we had any schools really. That’s so cool that you’re going to one!

August 15, 2017 at 2:49 pmDear (My) Tommy,
I couldn’t wait to come to your blog and as always, when I see you have published something new I know I’m going to be inspired! Then I saw your post last night about being part of the RR Style Academy and I seriously was so intrigued. I checked out the Academy and I’m so jealous it’s so far away! This is such a remarkable choice for you , as you stated, you’ve spent 15 years working in fashion and with the utmost style and success so the fact that you are seeking to acquire even more knowledge truly inspires me! Can’t wait to hear and see more!
Love,
( Your) Jenny

September 6, 2017 at 5:41 pmThis is so fun Thomas!!! Its funny how we can tent to style ourselves perfectly but for some reason doing the same with other person is gets challenging sometimes. Many of my friends have ask me to help them with the style and to be honest it’s such fun thing to do and I have done it before and my friends always tent to be very happy with the results. But sometimes I’ve struggle. Maybe I should join an academy like this one too but don’t thinks theres one in Panama. Thanks for sharing your experience would love to know how everything goes once you get more deeper 🙂
xoxo
