[:en]The Swedish fashion brand, F.A.S. was founded in 2013 by Firas Al-Saffar and their ambition is to design clothing that attract conscious people, regardless of age and sex. Their intention is to create timeless garments combining Scandinavian minimalism and influences from Southern Europe. Their pieces tend to be cool yet elegant, and are meant to last longer than temporary trends, just like me that is. And here’s what’s really hitting it off for me:
We are contemporary. We are urban. And we cross lines.
That’s what I am, or at least, want to think I am. I am contemporary, I am urban and gosh do I cross lines.
The values of F.A.S. are to my liking too as they love fashion, but love responsible fashion even more. They believe that the creation, production, marketing and retailing of their collections should as far as possible be done with respect taken to values such as environmental sustainability, animal protection and fair trade. They also highlight and give their view on current international humanitarian happenings such as the ongoing refugee situation in Europe. If I haven’t said it before, I’ll say it now. I adore companies that are socially aware and actually take responsibility and give back to the community. That is why this is yet another Swedish brand I’m more than proud to wear!
I am contemporary. Well, both yes and no. I keep myself updated on trends, but I don’t follow them much as I use whatever I think looks good on me no matter what the occasion or what season it is. If you’ve seen Midnight in Paris you might be familiar with the term Golden Age Syndrom which I in many aspects suffer from. I believe I’m born in the wrong decade or even century and would have loved to experience the Belle Epoque in Paris in the 1880s, the roaring 1920s or why not experiencing all the free love that was going on in Woodstock. With that said I am quite happy to be living in our current age and do keep up with all that’s going on in the world, both regarding pop culture, but also news and important events occuring around our globe as I think being intellectual is somewhat of the sexiest thing out there.
I am urban. Uh, yes. There’s not much more to that than I’ll add that I love cities. I love the dirtiness of New York and London, the stunning streets of Paris, the beautiful sunsets in Rome, but most of all I love Stockholm. I am immensely proud of Stockholm and here’s some hard facts for you. Stockholm is a hub of talent and technology, and the second most innovative city in the world after Silicon Valley. Stockholm is open, tolerant and vibrant where you can work hard, build a career or start a business and still have a very high quality of life. That combined with an immense variety of culture and entertainment in one of the most beautiful cities in the world attracts top talents from all over the world. And oh, did I mention that computer programmer is the number one career choice in Stockholm? Not for me though as I’m really not that uh, technical. I’m not going to start namedropping a lot of things just because of patriotism, but to mention one company everyone knows of, Spotify is an example of what we Swedes are up to nowadays as well as other startups such as Happy Socks, Daniel Wellington, along with numerous designers such as the one I’m wearing in this post.
I cross lines. I’ve brought this up in so many previous posts that I’m not going to mention it again, but yes, you are allowed to screw conventions and define etiquette and rules in society as long as you know them by heart. It is then, and only then, that you are allowed to cross lines.
I’ll finish off this post by getting back to Stockholm and how it attracts talents from all around the world. These talents would not be here if it wasn’t for the open borders we have. Or at least had. Due to current events in the world, the world has become a much more restricted place (the refugee crisis, Brexit, Trump) and our borders are not as open as they once were. I want everyone to be able to enjoy the Sweden I am so proud of, but right now all I can do is to take a stand and say “Je suis un habitant de la multiculturelle Suède” (I’m a resident of a multicultural Sweden) and darn proud of it. Just as I travel the world, I want the world to travel to us.

December 30, 2016 at 12:36 amI read this three times because I am both amazed and also I truly identify with so much of what you wrote. That’s not even mentioning how much I just adore the way you look.
One of the first things I noticed about you when I first read your blog was how proud you are of your heritage and homeland and how strongly you feel about how you present yourself to the world. I love how you compared yourself to the FAS brand and how correct you are in your analysis !! You wear these clothes so well. It’s as if they were made just for you, yet you show how versatile they are and how someone could create their own unique outfit like you did.
Thank you so much, once again, for sharing your style and letting us see a little more of what’s within you.
Thank you so much, also for sharing the beauty of your country and surroundings here and in your delightful instastories.
Always yours truly,

Great content about Sweden, the brands what comes to our country I also collaborated with them, are the happiest people of the world.
They put a lot of energy on the quality, design and practicity. About the borders here in Italy we are totally full you can imaginated is not so easy to live sometimes with difficult situations, where comes all new entries from other countries.
Love the urban and contemporan mentality.:)
Congrats for this brand what you choose to share us, expecially beacuise sustain a good cause.

December 31, 2016 at 12:30 amLove the motto of this company and I totally see you inhabiting it. This sweatshirt is awesome in that it announces your commitment to inclusiveness, which is so important for new faces who aren’t sure if the people in their new city are open to them or not (i.e refugees and immigrants). I had no idea that Happy Socks and DW were Swedish companies. It’s great to know how innovative and small business friendly Sweden is. I know it’s a wonderful place to live from things I’ve read before. If I’m ever looking to relocate to Europe, it’s definitely high on my list. I’ve always wanted to relocate abroad to see what it’s like to live outside of America. But I’m a bit scared of living too far from people I know and love. I get homesick easily. Anyways, I’ve totally gone on a tangent haha. But really enjoyed reading this and always love hearing you teach us new things about your home town and country.

January 4, 2017 at 4:23 amI’m all for socially aware brands that are ethical and this brand sounds absolutely amazing, not to mention that you look so amazing in their clothes 🙂 I’ve often found that Sweden are really on-the-pulse and ethical in many aspects of life and you should be so proud to be a Swede! I love the message on that sweater- multiculturalism is so important in Australia too and things like Trump and Brexit make the world such a closed minded and naive place.

January 4, 2017 at 7:31 amYour style is totally urban and contemporary. These days, very rarely you come across such socially and fashion responsible brands. Great pics and love your style of writing. Keep up the good work and have a great new year

January 4, 2017 at 11:09 amA close friend of mine visited Sweden last year while I was visiting Norway. I told her wonders about Norway as much as she told me wonders about Sweden! I really wish to be able to visit Stockholm in 2017!
And that brand looks really cool and modern! Love the multi-language print!

January 4, 2017 at 4:12 pmI love how you examined brand’s message through your personal perfective! It’s so fun to read!
I want to do the same too!! Okay here you go:
I’m contemporary – only when it comes to makeup. Otherwise I’m an old soul lady!
I’m urban – and being far away from the city makes me anxious!
I cross lines (and continents) – as deep in my heart I’m a true rebel!

It’s always wonderful when you find a brand that not only has wonderful quality but also has a wonderful motto! I love how proud you are to be Swedish. I think it’s so important to not forget where you come from and really embrace every part of who you are!
Happy New Year Thomas! xx Belle

January 4, 2017 at 10:02 pmSweden has got it going on with awesome emerging brands! So far I’m loving F.A.S’s aesthetics and values, what a great brand to work for. I would love to visit Stockholm someday, I love that you speak so highly of it, I’m sure it is an amazing city to explore!

January 4, 2017 at 11:40 pmI’ve always loved Swedish brands! And even more so, the brands that remain ethical in their production and design. I can so relate to what you said regarding your desire to be born in a different time. Woodstock would have hands down been my era! Doesn’t get much better than good music and free love lol! And, go ahead and cross those line! Being good is boring 😉
Much love,

January 6, 2017 at 7:46 amI have always admired European fashion brands so much more than others – the sense of social responsibility and transparency is so admirable and refreshing! Add to that the trademark Swedish minimalist fashion forward style, and voila, that’s one AMAZING brand that’s sure to last and last! Thank you for sharing this amazing label with us. You are absolutely killing it in that cool bomber, and I definitely need to look into their pieces for the hubby! ^^
