Alternating my life between Stockholm and London, I cannot say I’ve chosen the most skin-friendly cities in the world to live in. London much due to its pollution, whereas Stockholm is treating my skin to a rollercoaster of temperatures: from 35 degrees in the summer to -20 degrees in the winter. I change my skin care routine depending on seasons and at the moment I am using two products from ManCave to perfect it. As I’m constantly going back and forth, these products designed to keep you fresh whilst on the move have become two companions I won’t travel without. Considering their friendly price, it’s good to have one set with you at all times as they’ve got your basics covered. Keep reading for a thorough skin care routine, which can be done within a matter of minutes.
Not being familiar to this brand nor their products before, it’s been an interesting time to test them. For those of you not so familiar with a quick, but proper skincare routine, I’ll take you through four steps which all of you can manage on a daily basis.
1. First of all, wash your face with a cleanser. Whatever you do, skip your hand soap. Try to find a cleanser on the market which doesn’t dry your skin and for all of our sakes, make sure they’re not tested on animals.
2. This is a step many of you skip. I myself skip it too all too often, but when I don’t, I’ve been using a toner on a cotton pad to remove the last dirt and rests of the cleanser on my skin. Although not a new thing on the market, micellar cleansing water is new to me. I’m actually not sure why I haven’t stumbled upon it before. Micellar cleansing water is to be used in the same way as your regular toner, but it is a lot more effective in removing impurities from your skin. Micelles are tiny balls of cleansing oil molecules suspended in soft water and together they act as magnets to draw dirt from your skin. You simply use it by spraying a bit on a cotton pad, just like you’re hopefully used to doing with your toner.
3. When your face is completely dry, add a serum. The serum is a step that many like to skip as well and I know I was one of those people skipping it too, but from like a year back, I’ve been a regular user. Some people use a serum twice a day before each application of a facial moisturizer, but I tend to make it an evening routine. The serum is there to up your skincare game and they all come with different qualities, but what they have in common is that they’re all good for your skin.
The Anti-Pollution Face Serum from ManCave is, as you can tell from the name, a serum made of naturally derived extracts which strengthens the skin’s natural barriers to defend against daily environmental stressors. It helps to stimulate the skin’s production of natural antioxidants with Marrubium Vulgare – a flowering plant in the mint family – extract and protects the skin from irritation with anti-inflammatory caffeine. Both the serum and the micellar water is free from parabens, sulphates, synthetic dye, mineral oils, petrolatum and both cruelty free and vegan friendly.
4. Once the serum has absorbed into your skin, apply a moisturizer. Be sure to adapt to your skin type. In fact, most people don’t know their skin types, but this can usually easily be found by your pharmacist or dermatologist. Apply both mornings and evenings and in-between. For nights I recommend a night creme which helps your skin to recover during the night after a long day of hardships it is subjected to. There actually is a difference between day and night creme, in case you were in doubt and thought it was something some marketing department had come up with. Also, try to pamper yourself and your skin with a mask every now and then. De-stressing is crucial both for your complexion and your mental wellbeing.
Hopefully this guide will help you own your bathroom, instead of all the products with weird ingredients owning you. Beauty products can be overwhelmingly expensive, often for no other apparent reason than the brand name they are associated with. Thanks to my collaboration with ManCave you can get both the Micellar Cleansing Water and the Anti-Pollution Serum for a total of £10 by clicking here.
This post is a paid collaboration with ManCave, but I would not recommend a product I don’t believe in and this time around there’s something in it for you guys as well!
